Over 30 Namibian offenders to be repatriated from Angola under new prisoner exchange agreement

The National Assembly (NA) has approved a treaty that would allow Namibians serving their sentences in Angola's correctional facilities to be transferred to Namibia and serve their sentences at home. The prisoners' exchange agreement between Namibia and Angola would see over 30 Namibian offenders serving in Angolan correctional facilities being repatriated to serve their sentences in Namibia. Namibia and Angola signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on prisons and correctional services in April 2021. Angola has already approved the treaty and now with approval from the National Assembly, that process is expected to start.
