Political parties should not claim command says Kazenambo Kazenambo

No political party can claim overall command of any region or local authority following the outcome of the 2020 Regional Council and Local Authority Elections. This is the view of former Minister of Youth, Sport and National Service, Kazenambo Kazenambo, in an analysis of the elections. He identified identity, money, and status politics as opposed to the politics of principle, ideology, solidarity, and sacrifices of just courses, as the main causes of the losses or gains during the just-concluded elections. Also, the outcome of the result, he said, showed that no political party presents a national character in terms of command. The two new entities that gained mostly in these elections were the Landless People's Movement, Independent Patriots for Change, and some independent candidates. Kazenambo observes that the new body politic of the country, as demonstrated in the elections, shows that there are two main strong political parties namely the ruling Swapo Party and LPM. However, none of them command majority votes in all elective regions and local authorities, according to him. Namibia, he said, has gone a step backward in the consolidation of building a democratic unitary state.
