President Hage Geingob extended his condolences to Dirk Mudge's family, following the passing of the retired opposition politician. In his message, President Geingob said although they represented different political backgrounds and ideas, he came to know Mudge during the draft of the Constitution in 1989 as a leader who was willing to make compromises in the interest of peace and a new Namibia. Geingob described the former Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA) president as a peacemaker and a man of principle at a crucial time in the history of Namibia. He said he will remember with fondness a man with a sharp intellect. The President said Mudge made tangible contributions to nation-building. Mudge died today in the local hospital at the age of 92.
