President Geingob extends Noah's reign at ACC for six months

The Presidency today announced the appointment, on 15 December 2020, of Paulus Noah as acting Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as well as advocate Erna van der Merwe as Acting Deputy Director-General for six months. "The President made the acting appointments conscious of the procedural requirements for the appointment of the Director-General and Deputy Director-General of the ACC. The terms of office of both Mr Noah and advocate Van der Merwe had come to an end on 31 December 2020. "In light of the fact that the National Assembly is in recess, the Head of State made the appointments by virtue of the powers vested in the President by section 10 (2) of the Anti-Corruption Act, No. 8 of 2003, as amended," read a statement from State House. The duo have been at the helm of the ACC since its inception in 2006.
