President Hage Geingob has paid tribute to the former President of Angola, Eduardo Dos Santos, whom he says will be remembered for his immense contribution to the liberation of Namibia. Dos Santos died in Barcelona, Spain, on Friday. In a media statement, Dr Geingob said Dos Santos was a revolutionary and a tenacious freedom fighter who dedicated his life to the pursuit of freedom, justice and equality for Angolans, SADC and Africa at large. Dos Santos' death, Geingob says, is a tragic loss for his country, Namibia, and the entire continent. Namibia in particular owes a great debt of gratitude to the former President. Therefore, Dr Geingob says the legacy of Dos Santos will remain immortalised in the hearts and minds of successive generations of Namibians. Angola provided shelter to Swapo cares and other Namibians during the liberation struggle. The Head of State further recalled that Angola and other frontline states provided all-around political, material and diplomatic support to Namibia's freedom fighters under the leadership of the Swapo Party. The President further stated that he had a great working relationship with the late Angolan leader who even attended his inauguration as president in 2015. #NBCNews #nbcDSTV282 #nbcdigitalnews
