President Hage Geingob and his Botswana counterpart, Mokgweetsi Masisi have directed water ministries and technical committee to speed up the implementation of the desalination plant. This follows talks between the two leaders and their delegations that were held behind closed doors at State House this morning. Talks to set-up a joint desalination plant to draw water from the Atlantic Ocean at Walvis Bay have been on the agenda of the two governments, for more than five years. The Desalination Plant is intended to supply the two SADC state's capital cities, Windhoek and Gaborone, with drinking water. President Masisi was in Namibia for a one-day working visit, at the invitation of President Geingob.
