There has been a public outcry, particularly by senior citizens, over the recent sharp increases in electricity tariffs in the //Karas Region. Senior citizens residing at the state-owned Daan Viljoen old-age home in Keetmanshoop are worried after receiving notices of electricity increases to their monthly basic charges. Before the increase the elderly paid N$120 for the basic charge but they will now have to fork out up to N$400.
