The Swapo Central Committee meeting has endorsed the names of candidates to contest for the top three positions while adding new ones. Announcing the results, Party Secretary for information and Mobilisation Hilma Nicanor said the meeting endorsed Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila while Pohamba Shifeta and Frans Kapofi were the new addition to the Vice President race. The Politburo nominees of Sophia Shaningwa and Armas Amukwiyu are the only candidates vying for the Secretary-General position. Those competing for the Deputy Secretary General position are Evelyn Nawases-Tayele, Lucia Witbooi, Uahekua Herunga and David Hamutenya.
