Leader of the Landless People’s Movement (LPM), Bernadus Swartbooi on Monday announced that his party recognises the just concluded Local Authority and Regional Council Elections as a major milestone towards democracy. “The elections completely redesigned our national political map. The LPM is now a party that is a system ready to govern,” said Swartbooi. While addressing a media conference at the party head office, Swartbooi also thanked the voters for instilling trust and confidence in his party. “Now is the time to work and deliver, and before any decision is taken at any level, greater consultations will be taken, “Cities such as Windhoek must be reformed. Land audits and financial audits must take priority, therefore, we will use the first six months to properly understand these issues,” he said. The LPM will have an induction workshop for all elected party officials before Wednesday’s swearing in.
