The Namibian Police confirmed that an armed robbery occurred at about 07h00 at Metro Cash and Carry in Tsumeb. It is alleged that six unknown suspects shot the tyres of a G4S vehicle and held security officers at gunpoint and managed to flee with approximately N$600 000 in cash from Metro, Shoprite and Hungry Lion. The suspects drove away in a white VW Polo bearing a Grootfontein registration number in front and N18095ND at the back and an Opel Corsa with the registration N120383W. The Namibian Police arrested two suspects with the cars and a pistol after the vehicle was abandoned in the garage of a house in Second Avenue in Tsumeb. Four suspects are on the run by foot and the Police are pursuing them. The cash was recovered. The recovered pistol's serial number has been tampered with. Both vehicles are impounded. Investigations are continuing.
