Two people died on the B2 road along Longbeach after the vehicles they were each traveling in collided at around 20h37 on Saturday evening. A Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime report issued on Sunday morning by Erongo Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu indicated that the incident took place when the driver and deceased in one of the vehicles, a sedan driving from Walvis Bay, overtook another vehicle in front of them and then collided into a pick-up truck traveling from Swakopmund. The pick-up truck had two occupants, including a 27-year-old driver who was then thrown out of the vehicle after it overturned and landed on its roof. The driver died on the spot after landing on the windscreen of another vehicle, a polo, which was behind the pick-up truck. The passenger in the pick-up truck escaped without any injuries. The driver of the polo and his passenger also escaped without injuries. The deceased persons have been identified as Michael Shikongo Nambombola and 27-year-old Angelo Goliath. Their next of kin have been informed of their deaths and their bodies were transported to the Walvis Bay Police mortuary for postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. Police investigations continue.
