Two board members of Seaflower Pelagic Processing (SPP) Heinrich Mihe Gaomab II and Ruth Herunga have resigned with immediate effect. A statement by the Chairman of the temporary board of directors of the National Fishing Corporation (FISHCOR) says the decision to resign as directors of the SPP board is due to the conflict of interest that exists due to the ongoing litigation against FISHCOR by SPP. The Namibian newspaper today reported that the partly state-owned fishing company, SPP is suing the ministers of fisheries, finance and public enterprises and its minority shareholder, FISHCOR, in a bid to prevent the public auctioning off part of Namibia's horse mackerel catch during the rest of the current fishing season.
