Two truck drivers fired for violating quarantine regulations

Health Minister, Dr Kalumbi Shangula said the 47-year-old Namibian man who tested positive for COVID-19, upon his arrival from South Africa, was quarantined at Walvis Bay Truck Port, where he sneaked out into the community with another truck driver. Shangula said they were apprehended by the police and put into a supervised Walvis Bay Isolation Hospital Unit. This was before his specimen was taken for testing on 20 May, which came back positive. Dr Shangula said the two were later fired by their employers for violating quarantine regulations. Contact tracing will start today. Shangula said this during an update at the COVID-19 Communication Centre.
