Walvis Bay suspends CEO, top managers

The Walvis Bay Municipality has today resolved to suspend at least three executives to clear the way for an investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds. The council suspended its CEO, Muronga Haingura, general manager for community and economic development, Agosthino Victor, manager for housing and properties Jack Manele, and properties clerk, Constance Summers. The suspensions come hot on the heels of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Namibia seizing computers and equipment of the three. Over the weekend the ACC confirmed that the seizure is related to alleged missing millions from the coastal town’s massive urban land servicing project. The council said it decided on suspensions so that investigations can be done without interference. In a statement, council spokesperson, Anita Kaihiva, said the town’s general manager for finance, Frans Gonteb will act as CEO for the duration of the suspension and investigation. The council also resolved to put on hold all sale of erven and properties until further notice.
