The Windhoek Vocational Training Centre (WVTC) today decided to temporarily suspend training as of today until Monday, 29 June. This follows after a number of trainees at the centre were taken for COVID-19 testing and placed under quarantine in Windhoek. In an internal staff memo released today, acting centre manager Gwendoline Kamuguma said the trainees tested all came from Walvis Bay, which is considered a high-risk area, and did not necessarily show any signs of the virus. While awaiting the results, all facilities at the WVTC are to be disinfected by an independent contractor, as of tomorrow. Senior instructors were instructed to remain on standby for disinfection of their workshops, and while not deemed necessary, the centre's hostel will also be disinfected.
