Zimbabweans from cruise ship to be repatriated by Air Namibia

A group of 100 Zimbabweans have been transported to the Walvis Bay International Airport to be repatriated to their country by Air Namibia. The group arrived at the Walvis Bay harbour on Thursday when the passenger cruise ship Carnival Fascination docked at the port. They spent 73 days on the ship and were not allowed to disembark until they were strictly escorted by Namibian authorities to the airport. Eighty-two others are expected to be transported to the airport under heavy police escort, to catch their flight at 17h00. The Zimbabweans travelled from Florida in the United States of America and are employees on two cruise ships. Rofina Chivaka, Zimbabwean ambassador to Namibia, expressed gratitude to the Namibian Government saying the country is an all-weather friend to Zimbabwe at a time other countries with ports are refusing Zimbabweans entry.
