The leader of the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF), Epafras Mukwiilongo, has called on the eligible voters in the Okaku constituency to vote for his party's candidate, Tomas Nambambi.

Mukwiilongo believes the NEFF is the only political party that has the interests of the masses at heart, such as fighting for their rights.

Party members and sympathizers flocked to Iindangungu village in the Oshana Region for the party's campaign rally ahead of the by-election on the 17th of March.

Mukwiilongo says the party has fielded a young and energetic candidate who will bring much-needed development to the constituency.

He pleaded with those in attendance to carry out a door-to-door campaign to ensure that they garner as many supporters as possible to give them victory.

"You have heard that NEFF is the only visible party in the country. We go all over the country to give assistance to our people when they are in crisis. Tell the elders about us so that they too can give us their votes. We have so many resources in this country, but unequal distribution has caused our youth to be unemployed. If we win these elections, we will surely be the change you want to see."

The party's candidate, Tomas Nambambi, says he is ready to take over as regional councilor and implement development that speaks to the needs of the electorate.

He promised to work with the people at the grassroots level to make Okaku one of the constituencies with economic power to address youth unemployment.

"My promise is that I will be transparent and truthful so that I do not betray your trust in whatever I do and that whatever I do will maintain a good working relationship both before and after the elections so that we can bring the much-needed development to this great constituency. I can never work in isolation because I will achieve nothing without your support and contributions, which affect us all as residents of the constituency."

Four political parties, NEFF, the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM), the Swapo Party, and the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), have fielded candidates in the by-election.
