The Swapo Party Central Committee held a meeting in Windhoek on Saturday. In his rather brief speech, President Hage Geingob called on party members to desist from spreading rumors.

The meeting was to elect leaders for various portfolios.

Swapo Party Central Committee gathered for their first meeting for the year, where both the party's veterans and new blood displayed their camaraderie spirit.

Before his opening address, the Central Committee members observed a minute of silence in honor of two traditional leaders who died this week.

They are the former and First Governor of the llKaras Region, who later became the Deputy Chief of the IHai ||Khaua Traditional Authority Stephanus Goliath, and the OvaHerero spiritual leader and caretaker of the Chief Hosea Kutako Shrine, Abisai Mungundje.

In his rather short opening speech and without being specific, Dr. Geingob urged the party members to stop spreading rumors.

Six members of the Central Committee who were not present at the previous swearing-in also took the oath at the event.
