The defending champions of the 2023 Namibian Newspaper Cup, Khomas netball team and their football counterparts, returned home to a heroes' welcome Friday afternoon.
The same could not be said about the Football team as their exited the competition in the earlier stages.
The teams paraded the trophy at Soweto Market and then went through Independence Avenue to the CBD before presenting it to the governor.
Presenting the team and giving a report on the team's performance was the chairperson of the Khomas Regional Council Sport Organising Committee, Frans Chilinda.
The Khomas Governor, Laura McLeod-Katjirua, said the mission was to send out the team to deliver and they lived up to the expectations.
Not only did the Netball Champions walk away with a gift bag, but the Khomas Governor, Laura McLeod-Katjirua, also presented them a with a cheque of N$18 000, which will be distributed equally among the players as pocket money.
The winning captain Kelly Tjarukua was over the moon about the warm reception and the gifts.
