Nine wrestlers from the After School Wrestling Club in Grysblok, Katutura brought home a total of 13 medals, with 5 of them gold - following their participation at the Frank Joubert Open in South Africa over the weekend.

The team from the After School Club travelled to Pretoria in high spirits last week, hoping to bag medals. And - that's exactly what they did as 13 medals were brought back to the motherland.

The Namibian team led by Cuban coach Luis Focelledo displayed impressive antics in both Greco Roman and Freestyle categories as they prepare for the 2023 African Wrestling Championships set to take place in Tunisia from the 15th  to the 21st of May.

Focelledo stated that he will work together with the technical team to make sure that the latest feat is reproduced or surpassed.

Virinao Nguatjiti and Lazaras Haimbodi won two gold medals each in the Junior and U-17 categories while Granville Swarts, Carlo Dreyer and Romio Goliath obtained gold medals in the U-11, 17 and senior categories.

Alex Haininga walked away with silver and bronze medals in the senior category. In the juniors, Sakaria Haipandwa was presented silver and bronze medals.

Completing the awards list were Heita Tobias and Darian Mouton who collected bronze medals in the U-13 and 17 categories.
