The Outjo Cricket Development initiative held a coaching clinic in Kamanjab over the weekend as part of its mandate to take the game to all parts of the country.

The two-day coaching clinic was attended by learners from the DF /Uirab Primary and Kamanjab Combined Schools.

About 40 learners from the two schools attended the coaching clinic with the aim of taking the children to the next level of hardball cricket, as all of them had been playing mini or kwata cricket.

The regional development officer of Cricket Namibia, Wilhelm Tuhafeni who was conducting the clinic, said that the kids are always very excited to be exposed to learn more.

He added that while they are on course in terms of introducing the sport of cricket to more regions, facilities remain a big problem.

But while it's important to introduce cricket to children in remote areas of the country, how does the initiative actually take stock to see if the program continues long after the coaching clinics have concluded?

The next coaching visits will take place from the 15th to the 20th of May at Opuwo and from the 23rd to the 26th of May at Khorixas.
