The 5th Otjinene Business and Trade Expo is underway, and it is aimed at promoting local small and medium enterprises.

The Expo is also set to host various activities, such as information-sharing sessions and the showcasing of livestock.

This was revealed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Otjinene Village Council, Inge Kaveterua, in an interview with nbc News at the Otjinene Expo Centre.

Kaveterua says the council has the responsibility of reviving the town's economy, and the Expo is one of the events that would respond to this call.

"This is our 5th edition of Expo in Otjinene, and one can say that there has been a lot of improvement pertaining to the way the SMEs are organised; they're more organised, and they have a variety of products that they want to showcase. I think this time around we're much more organised than the previous."

The CEO added that this year's Expo has attracted exhibitors from other parts of the country, which is good.

The week-long Expo, which ends on the 30th, will open on Thursday.
