President Nangolo Mbumba says Namibia could make use of Ghana's expertise in the development of the oil and gas sector.

This consideration follows a courtesy meeting with Ghana's President John Mahama in Accra.

The talks between Presidents Mbumba and Mahama focused on matters of mutual concern for Namibia and Ghana.

Speaking upon arrival to nbc News, President Mbumba emphasised the eagerness of the two countries to broaden commercial trade, premised on the sound historical ties.

"They are eager to cooperate with us; now our beef, mutton, and goat meat are welcome, and we also wish we could get some of their fruits. They are eager to do business with us; they discovered oil in advance of us, and since they have some expertise, we want to tap into that. Why should we jump to other continents while we have experts on the African continent?" said President Mbumba.

The Namibian leader was among the African and international heads of state and government and other representatives who witnessed Mahama taking the oath as Ghana's 14th president for the second time.

Mahama served for one term only from 2012-2017 and was succeeded by now former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

President Mbumba added, "It was quite a well-organised inauguration; each country has its own way of how they organise it, who is invited, and who is not invited. We were honoured; Botswana and Namibia were well represented. Ghana is the route; it is where independence for Black Africans started, and they are very proud of their contributions, and we are proud of them for what they were able to accomplish: very stable, very peaceful, and no concern about security. President Mahama honoured Namibia by accepting that we saw him yesterday at his own house; he is a good friend of the late Dr. Geingob and has also worked with Dr. Pohamba. He is a former president who was out for 8 years and is now back in office. This teaches us to be cool under pressure when things are in our favour and when not in our favour, that our countries, regions, and continent must come first and that we are just servants of the people."
