The Namibia Planned Parenthood Association (NAPPA) and the Swapo Party Women's Council (SPWC) have agreed to cooperate on issues of sexual reproductive health.
NAPPA and the SPWC further agreed that assistance is needed within local communities, particularly among youth.
"It's so sad to see that even though Namibia has accomplished the 90-90-90 of the UNAIDS goals in all age categories in the country, HIV prevalence is going down; the only age category where it's still going up is between the ages of 10 and 19. New infections are being recorded at a higher rate on a daily basis," said Ashwick Forbes, the Chairperson of NAPPA.
According to Fransina Kahungu, SPWC Secretary, the memorandum of understanding will now assist in scaling up some of the crucial services.
"NAPPA will run adolescent and youth-friendly clinics at its facilities to increase the uptake of sexual reproductive health services and provide relevant information that's contributing, inter alia, to the reduction of HIV infections among the young in the community. Where NAPPA is taking these activities, then it means that SWAPO Party Women's Council shall also do the same in partnership with NAPPA."
NAPPA will assist the Swapo Women's Council in the transfer of knowledge and skills.
