The Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, has called on young people to make use of technology and advance business opportunities around it.

Theofelus made this call at the opening of the Omaheke Youth Camp and Exhibition 2023 at Gobabis.

"I urge all of you here today as young people to embrace technology and use it as a creation of a better future for ourselves and our communities. Take advantage of the resources available to you and work to develop your skills in areas such as coding, digital marketing, and e-commerce."

Theofelus also called on stakeholders to assist local entrepreneurs in various ways.

The Information and Communication Technology Deputy Minister also called for partnerships between the government and other stakeholders to address unemployment.

Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services Utjiua Muinjangue, who also spoke at the occasion, touched on the mental health aspects that affect young people.

"Your social well-being will help you to make the right choices and will help you to relate easily with other people, so that is why it is so important that we have to make sure that our mental health is well."

Event organiser Uataviza Patire explained that the aim of the Omaheke Youth Camp and Exhibition is to capacitate local young people with skills transfer.

"We don't want to leave this event here; we want it to be a regional event through business idea sharing and guidance in the area of potential. The idea is not only to have an impact on the youth in Omaheke but nationwide."
