President Hage Geingob says Cabinet will discuss South Korea's request for support to host the World Expo 2030 before a decision is taken.

Dr. Geingob received a courtesy visit from Park Heong-joon, the Special Envoy of South Korea's President Yoon Suk, at his residence in Windhoek.

South Korea is seeking Namibia's support in its bid to host the World Expo 2030 in its port city of Busan.

It is in the race against Saudi Arabia, Ukraine, and Italy to host the prestigious event.

State House Press Secretary, Dr. Alfredo Hengari, says President Geingob expressed gratitude to the South Korean President, Yoon Suk, for considering Namibia's support.

Dr. Hengari told nbc News that President Geingob informed the South Korean special envoy and delegation that other countries are also lobbying for Namibia's support.

However, Cabinet will discuss the benefits the Expo would bring to the country, and a decision on which country Namibia would throw its weight behind will be communicated accordingly.

Meanwhile, President Geingob has welcomed the interest of South Korea in Namibia's development of green hydrogen, particularly the part about transferring technology.

The South Korean government has extended an official invitation to President Geingob to attend the Korea-Africa Special Summit to be hosted next year.
