Clotilde Monkam, a Cameroonian citizen and businesswoman, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Namibia to Douala in the Littoral Region.
The proposal of Monkam as Honorary Consul of Namibia to Douala was made in August last year, and the official handover took place last week.
The Consulate of Namibia is expected to strengthen the relationship between Namibia and Cameroon and represent Namibia's interests in Douala and the littoral region.
Namibia's High Commissioner to Cameroon, Humphrey !Geiseb, emphasised that the Honorary Consul of Namibia will be expected to promote Namibia in Cameroon, work with Cameroonian stakeholders with interests in Namibia, and help increase tourism between the two countries.
The ceremony was also attended by staff of the Consulate as well as five Consul-Generals and over 30 Honorary Consuls based in Douala, heads of regional services, traditional rulers, and other high-ranking personalities.
