The Namibian Defence Force (NDF) is happy with the preparedness of the contingent for the upcoming Joint Peace Support Operation exercise, code-named Hanganee II, with their Botswana counterpart in the Omaheke Region.
This was said by the NDF chief, Air Marshal Martin Pinehas.
Air Marshal Pinehas conducted an inspection to assess the readiness of the participating troops and the necessary equipment for the exercise, which is scheduled to take place from the 15th to the 30th of June in the Omaheke Region.
Lieutenant Colonel Monika Hamukoto is the contingent commander and the first woman to lead a battalion in the joint field exercise between Namibia and Botswana.
The Chief of the Defence Force visited the areas where the troops will be deployed, including three schools that are currently undergoing renovation as part of the outreach programmes.
The renovations of schools, which have so far cost over one million dollars, were done at Mphe-Thuto, Drimiopsis, and Nossob primary schools.
