A police detective, Inspector Abram Kaiser, appeared in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate Court on a charge of domestic violence.

Detective Inspector Kaiser was arrested following charges of assault by threat for allegedly threatening to shoot his wife.

He was not asked to plead, and the state opposed granting bail to the suspect.

State Prosecutor Marlon Adams told the court that the complainant stated in her affidavit that she fears for her life if the suspect is granted bail.

Magistrate Erick Dandu advised the suspect to lodge a formal bail application.

Kaiser's case was postponed to Thursday.
