The residents of Katutura in Windhoek are protesting against the appointment of a debt collector, Red Force, fearing that their services will be terminated for non-payment.

They have also appealed to the City of Windhoek to write off their debts.

The Chairperson of the Katutura Residents Committee, Benestus Kandundu, alleged that the municipality is using an estimation billing system, which they say is unfair.

Kandundu further urged the City of Windhoek to speed up the process of installing prepaid water and electricity metre systems in all households.

Windhoek Mayor Joseph Uapingene eventually showed up to receive the petition.
