The Minister of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Itah Kandjii-Murangi, has inaugurated the interim council members of the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST).
The term of the previous council members ended last month.
The interim council consists of eight members, chaired by Dr. Leake Hangala and deputised by Nora Ndopu.
Others are Dr. Uazuva Kaumbi, Emilia Nghikembua, Sam Nujoma, Dr. Stanley Shanapinda, Dr. Detlof Oertzen, Rachel Kalipi, Kadiva Hamutumwa, Dr. Alfred van Kent, and Flora Gaes.
"We appreciate the opportunity given to us and serve in the important council. We acknowledge the challenges facing us, and therefore we will hit the ground running. We expect that we get the support and assistance of all stakeholders to ensure that we turn around the fortunes of NUST, which is a very important institution in our country and whose main function is to educate our young people to do research and promote innovation in our country." said NUST Interim Council Chairperson, Leake Hangala.
They will serve until a substantive board is appointed.
