The United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator in Namibia, Hopolang Phororo, says the body's partnership framework is aligned with Namibia's 6th National Development Plan.

Hopolang Phororo said this during a courtesy call to the nbc's headquarter in Windhoek.

Phororo explained that the UN's partnership framework places an emphasis on economic and social transformation, environmental sustainability, and good governance.

Phororo also welcomed Namibia's 2023 Population and Housing Census, saying it will assist them in their work.

"There is a big gap in data, and thank God we are doing the census. When we look at the data that we are using, it is old. We are saying, where can we fill in the data because the data will be the basis of the work we do here?"

Phororo also explained that the UN has undergone a transformation to become more independent.

"The idea now was to have a resident coordinator who will be partial and independent prior to the reforms; if you will recall, the resident coordinator was the UNDP resident representative—one person for two hats. The issue was that it's difficult to be independent if you have a UNDP resident representative coordinator, so what happened for Namibia was that we delinked from the UNDP, so my resident coordinator is the most senior UN person."

She noted that the UN is ready to provide the national broadcaster with content on both radio and television.
