The Regional Councillor for Berseba Constituency, Jeremia Goeieman, has called on constituents to take ownership of government-funded socio-economic development projects and programmes implemented to improve livelihoods.
He made the call during the constituency's Community Development Committee meeting at Berseba.
The Community Development Committee is an important governance structure that spearheads the development of a given constituency.
Reminding CDC members of their responsibilities, Goeieman directed them to spearhead the constituency's development agenda.
"Let us take ownership of projects and programmes in our respective communities by being an integral part of the projects. Let us monitor, evaluate, and report on our projects. Give advice to your people and assist them in whatever possible way. Only then can we improve the lives and livelihoods of those who entrusted us with this enormous task, which is the development of our Berseba Constituency."
The CDC meeting also saw the handover of backyard gardening equipment to community empowerment project beneficiaries.
Toiletry hampers were also handed to CDC members for distribution to vulnerable schoolchildren.
Goeieman also seized the opportunity to inform the communities that gender-based violence is one of the contributing factors to an unhealthy nation.
