The Junior Consultant at the Namibia Institute for Democracy (NID), Ayaka Abrahams, has highlighted the role civil society plays in aiding the government in the fight against corruption in Namibia.

Abrahams said this at the launch of the Anti-Corruption Song Competition.

Ayaka Abrahams noted that civil society plays a crucial role in complementing government efforts to fight corruption.

"Overall, civil society actors play an important role in supporting the government's efforts to fight corruption in Namibia. Their involvement can help ensure that anti-corruption efforts are effective, transparent, accountable, and have wider public support."

Abrahams stated that competition is an important initiative that will play a significant role in raising awareness of corruption among learners.

"Corruption is a pervasive problem that affects every aspect of society. And the competition will help educate young people about the importance of ethics, integrity, accountability, nationhood, and patriotism. It will also encourage them to become active citizens committed to promoting transparency and good governance."

Abrahams emphasized that the NID is contributing to the fight against corruption through the publication of books and articles as well as workshops on good governance.
