Cabinet has issued a directive to all ministries and agencies to actively contribute to the successful hosting of this year's National Population and Housing Census.

The Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology, Dr. Peya Mushelenga, said this during the Cabinet briefing.

"Ministry of Education, Arts, and Culture to avail classrooms and school hostels at suitable schools as per the request of the Namibia statistic agency; all offices, ministries, and agencies to avail some of their vehicles to the Namibia statistic agency to support census-held work and to drastically reduce the census budget on vehicle rentals."

Dr. Mushelenga then called on all offices, ministries, and agencies to release their staff at the director level who wish to volunteer their services to the Namibia Statistic Agency at No cost in support of the census work.

They were also called to provide facilities, such as training halls, and financial support where possible for that national project as early as possible.

"Cabinet took note of the tentative date of September 24, 2023, as the census reference night, which the Director General of the National Planning Commission will gazette as a time get-crosser, and Cabinet took note and endorsed a list of contributions required from offices, ministries, agencies, and other local and international organisations."

Cabinet also approved the hosting by Namibia of the Southern Africa Development Community Malaria Elimination Eight High-Level Meeting on September 5th this year.

"Cabinet authorised that Namibia invite all SADC health ministries and stakeholders to attend and participate in the above-mentioned meeting, and Cabinet directed that the ministries of International Relations and Cooperation and Health and Social Services commence with the preparations for Namibia to convene and host the SADC High Level Meeting on Elimination of Malaria in the SADC regions. Here ends the Cabinet meeting, and once more, Happy Birth Day, Comrade President."
