Two destitute elderly people were left to take care of their four grandchildren following the death of their daughter.
Executive Directors from different ministries collectively assisted the family in their personal capacities.
The assistance follows a video that circulated on social media of 60-year-old Utamunua Makono from Ovitoto pleading for the nation's aid.
Makono and her husband lost their deaf 39-year-old daughter in June this year due to complications after birth.
Left to care for her four grandchildren and one niece as well as her ill husband, the burden was too much to bear, and depression kicked in.
Makono has yet to start receiving her pension.
The youngest is over a month old, while the siblings are 9 months, 12 years, and 14 years old, respectively.
"I had a big problem, and the way you helped me today really touched my heavy and troubled soul. My husband was sick and in the hospital. He was the one who assisted me with the children by combining funds and my daughter's grant. When he was released, my daughter passed on, and my soul was distressed. So I am here now in Okahandja with my family, and they have been assisting me here and there, especially with porridge to feed the children who go to school. "
Basic items such as baby formula, nappies, and food would be of great assistance.
The government has been temporarily assisting her with baby formula for the youngest child, but only for a few months.
After the video, though, good Samaritans came to her aid, including executive directors from various Ministries who, in their private capacity, donated money to the family as well as basic items such as beds, nappies, and baby formula, among others.
Keeping the two older children in school also posed a challenge since their mother's grant was discontinued.
Fortunately, the EDs arranged with the Education Ministry to make sure that they went back to school.
Family friend Uendji Hange could not sit back and watch the vulnerable family suffer, thus the decision to take the video, which has since received positive and helpful responses from society.
"I made this video because I know where she is coming from and I have been in a similar situation. And I know how it feels to sleep on a hungry stomach, so I'm grateful to everyone who reached out to help her."
"Truly, the people came to my aid after the video went viral; they assisted me with clothes, they gave me money, and we are also able to pay for the kids school fees. Thank you all very much; may the Lord bless and take care of you."
The relieved Makona could not be more grateful as she shed a tear, an expression of her gratitude.
