The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) has evicted Menzies Aviation from the Hosea Kutako International Airport, and according to Paragon, the situation is under control and flights are departing normally since it took over ground handling services at the airport.
The Namibian Airports Company issued a statement notifying stakeholders about the eviction of Menzies Aviation from the Hosea Kutako International Airport.
The statements also outline that before the termination date, a fresh procurement process was initiated, soliciting bids for ground handling services at HKIA. Both Menzies and Paragon, another bidder, took part in this process.
However, Menzies' bid was disqualified due to non-compliance with specific tender conditions.
Following a sequence of appeals to panels and legal actions from both Menzies and NAC, Menzies was ultimately evicted from HKIA. Subsequently, Paragon assumed the role of ground handler for HKIA. Upon learning about rumours of chaos between Menzies and HKIA, an nbc News team conducted an assessment of the situation. Based on their observations, operations appeared to be proceeding as usual at Hosea Kutako International Airport.
Paragon, the new ground handler at the airport, was actively performing its duties.
Two flights from Kenyan Airways that were scheduled to depart from HKIA to Johanessburg were prepared to land at 12:30 and 18:20, and one from Eurowings Discover that was expected to land at HKIA from Frankfurt had been cancelled.
Approached for comment, NAC spokesperson Dan Kamati said the cancellations are purely the decision of the airlines, adding that many flights arrived, were handled professionally by Paragon, and departed.
NAC believes that all airlines and other related parties will work together to ensure a seamless transition, he said.
