A 28-year-old woman was arrested at Ongudi Village over the weekend after she allegedly attacked her 63-year-old biological mother with a panga.
The senior citizen sustained open-cut wounds on her chest, lips, and hands and was taken to the Oshakati State Hospital.
In their weekend crime report, the police further report three attempted murders, four culpable homicides, and one murder.
In the Eenhana Constituency, 33-year-old Matias Mwetufa died after he was allegedly hit on the head with an empty bottle by a 21-year-old woman and died on the spot.
According to the police report, Mwetufa attempted to stop a fight between the suspect and another young man when she went inside the shebeen and came out with the bottle, which she threw at him.
Armed robberies were also reported over the weekend.
At Otjiwaraongo's Heroes Park, four unknown suspects, one of whom was armed with a pistol, entered an unlocked house and found a boy who was busy washing dishes in the kitchen.
The suspects proceeded to the living room, where they found the owner of the house in her bedroom and held her at gunpoint.
The suspects stole items including a cellphone, laptop, and television.
No recovery of the stolen items has been made, and no arrests have been made so far.
In the capital, a woman was allegedly robbed of items valued at N$95 000 after unknown suspects gained entry through a kitchen window at her Kleine Kuppe Flat.
The suspects were armed with a pistol and a panga.
The police further report that a scuffle erupted between the victim and a suspect, and a shot was fired towards the ceiling inside the room.
No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made.
