The Republic of Korea will hand over vehicles to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) under the Programme Small Scale Grant following a request for vehicles this year.

Two Hyundai Staria minivans and one Hyundai Creta SUV will be delivered soon.

During the COVID pandemic, the Korean government provided 50,000 face masks and test kits worth $7 million to the Namibian government.

Korea and Namibia have been partners since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1990.

"I hope that the Korean vehicles that we provide will benefit the Namibian government and people, and I look forward to continuing working together to strengthen the Korea-Namibia partnership. This will be a token of friendship between Korea and Namibia," said Choi Kwang-Jin, Korea's Ambassador to Namibia.

Deputy Minister Jenelly Matundu said the Republic of Korea has been supporting the Namibian government with the Small Scale Grant Assistance, which has been mainly used for office equipment since 2019.

"We should explore ways to promote and protect investments in both our countries. I hope that this business forum will enable the Namibian and Korean business communities to strengthen business partnerships further, not only in the energy sector. Let us also find ways to accelerate trade and investment opportunities in other key sectors of our economy to create employment opportunities, stimulate economic growth in Namibia, and generate export potential for Namibia-Korean goods and services into Korea."
