EU, German diplomats reminded to respect Vienna Convention principles

The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) has maintained that the government has no objection as to who diplomatic missions accredited to Namibia engage. 

It says, however, that discussions on issues that are the sole preserve and prerogative of the sending and host governments, with a conversant not representing the government, are inconsistent with diplomatic practices and akin to interference in the domestic affairs of the country.

Korea to hand over vehicles to Namibia

The Republic of Korea will hand over vehicles to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) under the Programme Small Scale Grant following a request for vehicles this year.

Two Hyundai Staria minivans and one Hyundai Creta SUV will be delivered soon.

During the COVID pandemic, the Korean government provided 50,000 face masks and test kits worth $7 million to the Namibian government.

Korea and Namibia have been partners since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1990.

Miss Namibia & Miss Teen pay courtesy call to MIRCO

Miss Namibia, Jameela |Uiras, and Miss Teen 2023, Oriana Ribeiro, paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) to familiarise themselves with their responsibilities in the recently launched Namibia International Women's Peace Centre.

The visit aims to guide Miss Namibia and Miss Teen on how to advocate for the International Women's Peace Centre and peace for all, both locally and internationally.

Namibia condemns coup attempt in Niger

Namibia has condemned the coup that toppled the Niger Government and the subsequent detention of President Mohamed Bazoum yesterday.

In a statement, the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation said Namibia remains resolute in its stance on zero tolerance for acceding to power through unconstitutional means.

It calls for the reinstatement of President Bazoum and all other political detainees, the restoration of constitutional order, and the return of the government to civilian rule in that country.
