Miss Namibia, Jameela |Uiras, and Miss Teen 2023, Oriana Ribeiro, paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) to familiarise themselves with their responsibilities in the recently launched Namibia International Women's Peace Centre.

The visit aims to guide Miss Namibia and Miss Teen on how to advocate for the International Women's Peace Centre and peace for all, both locally and internationally.

The Centre was established in 2020, and its significance in Namibia is attributed to the country's role in the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, which focuses on women, peace, and security.

The primary objective of the Centre is to ensure the continuity of peace and security.

Even though Namibia is relatively peaceful, Ambassador Morina Muuondjo emphasises that there is still much work to be done to achieve a fully peaceful nation.

Challenges such as poverty, gender-based violence, and gender inequality, among others, need to be addressed to attain complete peace.

She further explains that the resolution has five main pillars that centre around protection, participation, prevention, relief, and recovery.

Miss Namibia Jameela |Uiras says she is ready to stand in the gap to advocate for peace and to also boot the Centre.
