The SWAPO Party Vice President, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, has laid the cornerstone for the construction of the party's district office at Talismanus in the Otjombinde Constituency.
Nandi-Ndaitwah says the envisaged office should be used to advance the interests of the party.
"Comrades, for any institution or organisation, let alone a political party like Swapo, an office is a very important building not only to keep party documents safe but also as a place where members can come together to exchange views and get the right information, whether they are residents of a particular constituency or district like Otjombinde, Omaheke, or any Namibian Swapo member. When you pass here and you see that office with a manikie in blue, red, and green, you go there to get it. That's why it's important, comrades; we must build party offices."
Nandi-Ndaitwah reminded all party officers that they should also assist in the advancement of the country's development, citing agriculture as one of the sectors with potential that just needs to be fully unlocked.
Party members who witnessed the ground-breaking ceremony pledged close to N$200,000 towards the construction of the office.
The party also welcomed new members on this occasion.
