Kavango East Governor Bonifatius Wakudumo has called on the Dr. Alpo Mbamba Secondary School choir to take their new role as Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Ambassadors seriously.

The school choir, which recently won the Anti-Corruption song competition at Swakopmund, visited the governor's office to show off their trophy and N$25,000 cash prize.

"I don't know what to say, but just to say I'm very proud of you; you made our region come out proudly. It wasn't easy. You started by competing among the best schools, then you were grouped into, you know, what we may call zones, consisting of the Zambezi Region, the Kavango East Region, and the Kavango West Region. You came out again, and then you were competing at the national level. Now all the winners from those other regions came together, and still you emerged victorious".

He reminded the learners of every citizen's duty to fight corruption, saying they would be the ones to suffer from its dire effects on national development.

School Principal Elizabeth Lucian said the school choir took a chance in entering the competition and was pleased it paid off.

"I'm very happy, very excited; it's something that was unexpected, so for us, we thought it was just a try for us to go and take part in the competition. I am really very happy and appreciate everyone who supported us, regionally be it parents and everyone, teachers and everyone, we are very grateful."
