The 147th IPU Assembly is set to convene in Luanda, Angola, from October 23 to 27, 2023.

This global gathering will bring together parliamentarians, partner organisations, and experts under the theme "Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions."

Aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goal 16, the Assembly aims to strengthen governance structures, enhance public institutions, and address global crises.

A historic moment awaits as the Assembly prepares to elect its 31st President of IPU Member Parliaments, with all candidates being women MPs from Africa.

Anticipating participation from across the globe, the Assembly will be a platform for critical discussions, including engagement with Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East, and efforts to facilitate political dialogue in Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The 147th IPU will introduce a range of new products and publications, including tools for measuring parliamentary capacity, reports on youth participation, and a parliamentary handbook on human rights in partnership with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
