President Hage Geingob has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the Census enumerators and provide accurate data for national development purposes.
Dr. Geingob said this as the management of the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA), led by Board Chairperson Salomo Hei and Statistician-General Alex Shimuafeni, visited their residence to enumerate the first family in Windhoek.
President Geingob and First Lady Monica Geingos were out of the country on official duty on September 24th, the Census reference night.
However, they are still expected to account for the family members and security personnel who were at their residence in Windhoek on the reference night. The first family is pleased with the countrywide enumeration process and has commended the statistics agency for the exercise. The teams have been on the ground since September 17th to count the population.
However, incidences of some farm owners restricting access and some citizens refusing to provide accurate data to enumerators are concerning to the President.
The 2023 National Population and Housing Census will be carried out until October 13th.
