The Oshana Police are urgently appealing to members of the public for their assistance in apprehending a man believed to be a serial rapist.

According to authorities, the suspect is described as a tall male with a brown complexion and a noticeable gap between his front teeth.

He was last seen wearing a white round-neck t-shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black bag with the brand name "Ellesse."

If anyone has any information that could lead to the successful apprehension of the suspect, they are urged to contact Deputy Commissioner Theofelus Kamati at 0816717179 or Deputy Chief Inspector Batromeus Matheus at 0813146512.

The police have been investigating several reported rape incidents in the region.

One incident involves an 11-year-old child, who, along with her 9-year-old male cousin, was walking from her house to the bakery in Onamutayi Village on Friday.

They were approached by the suspect, who accused them of insulting him and continued to slap the victim, strangle her, drag her into nearby bushes, and rape her.

Another incident occurred on Saturday in Onheleiwa Village around five in the evening.

Preliminary investigations indicate that two minor girls were walking towards their house when a person matching the description of the suspect approached them and instructed one of the minors to go home.

The suspect then forcefully took the 10-year-old girl to nearby bushes, where he threatened to kill her before engaging in anal sexual intercourse.

Upon the family's arrival, the perpetrator had already disappeared.

Warrant Officer Frieda Shikole, the Oshana Police Deputy Spokesperson, has emphasised the importance of educating children not to engage in conversations with strangers and has cautioned parents to accompany their children at all times to ensure their safety.
