The City of Windhoek has officially inaugurated Phase II of the Informal Areas Electrification Project in Otjomuise's Extensions 6 and 7.

The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm and hope as the project, considered pivotal towards enhancing essential services for the local communities, was celebrated.

The inauguration is deemed a beacon of progress and a promise to illuminate the lives of Otjomuise residents.

The Windhoek City Council said it symbolises the commitment of the local government to improve residents' living standards and prospects. 

Leaders and interested parties at all levels witnessed the event, underscoring the significance of this endeavour.

Most emphasised the transformative impact of the electrification project, which they say will go beyond powering homes to powering dreams and aspirations.

Phase Two follows the successful completion of Phase One, which provided electricity to the informal areas, thereby enhancing safety and quality of life. 

Phase two will expand the electricity network, allowing it to reach even more households.  

The Deputy Mayor of the City of Windhoek, Magdalena Lombardt noted that the city has made a substantial financial commitment to ensure the successful implementation of the project.

Residents were over the moon about this development.
