The construction of the Omaruru Olympic Africa Centre multi-purpose project has been temporarily halted.
Despite the ground-breaking ceremony taking place almost eight years ago, the project has faced delays and is currently suspended after completing the initial phase.
The multi-purpose centre, initiated by the Olympic Africa Foundation, aims to benefit underprivileged communities in the Erongo region and its surrounding areas.
Originally intended as a collaboration between the NOC and the Omaruru Town Council, the facility is designed to serve various purposes and cater to a range of community needs.
However, at present, there are few sporting events taking place at the venue, and further progress on the project has been put on hold.
Nevertheless, the initiators of the project are preparing to resume construction with the aim of successfully completing it as originally intended.
Once completed, the Omaruru Olympic Africa Centre is expected to offer various initiatives and amenities for the community.
These include a satellite library, a women's sewing project, a garden, a cricket pitch, and a BMX track.
The project holds great potential to positively impact the lives of those in the area, providing opportunities for education, skill development, and recreational activities.
