There is a revival in the agriculture sector, and its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) has picked up and is showing consistent growth.

There are, however, some challenges remaining in the agricultural sector, namely the pricing of food owing to geopolitics.

The consumer price had increased sharply, but on the other hand, there was also a reduction in prices for producers.

In the livestock sector, there are challenges, including drought and the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in southern Africa, but Namibia was spared and remained in the disease-free zone.

Land reform is hampered by land prices, and it cannot be accelerated as desired because of current high prices if the current budget remains the same.

Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform Minister Cale Schlettwein is, however, optimistic that with the adoption of the new Resettlement Policy that is more relevant and accessible, there will be progress.
