President Hage Geingob has reminded Namibians to reflect on their individual and collective roles to foster a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Dr. Geingob said this in his message on International Anti-Corruption Day.

The president explained that corruption infiltrates every sector, emphasising the necessity for collaborative efforts involving all stakeholders, including the media.

International Corruption Day, he stressed, should move people to unite against corruption every day.

Namibia, as a young nation, says the President stands united with the international community to reaffirm commitment to combat corruption in all its forms, a phenomenon that affects the poor the most.

All efforts, the head of state said, must be made to ensure a corruption-free Namibia, highlighting deliberate actions taken to root out corruption, such as the establishment of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as well as the National Anti-Corruption Strategy and Action Plan 2021-2025.

The blueprint focuses on five strategic pillars, mainly prevention, public education, law enforcement, deterrence, and harmonisation.

The Prevention of Organised Crime Act 29 of 2004, the Financial Intelligence Act 13 of 2012, and the Whistleblower Protection Act 10 of 2017 are but some of the deliberate efforts to curb corruption.
